Home of the CountRecorder

The CountRecorder has been an industry staple since the early 90’s when an on-board memory chip was added to the AccuraCounter. It was now possible to capture and store Hourly/Daily/Weekly/Monthly counts without the need for PC networks and software.

Today, you can select from the standalone Basic CountRecorder (where you walk to the display to read the counts) or the Wired Network CountRecorder or the new WiFi CountRecorder (both providing counts and reports at your PC).

CountRecorder Sensor

The CountRecorder uses an ac-powered, infrared reflected beam-break sensor that sends a safe and invisible infrared beam to the reflector installed opposite the sensor. When someone, or something, passes through this invisible beam, they “break” the beam and are counted. Single beam “non-directional” people counters do not separate the IN and OUT counts. So if someone walks in, then walks out, they will be counted twice, and you will need to divide the number on the display by 2 to arrive at a visitor count. Or you can program the CountRecorder to automatically divide by 2. Dual beam IN/OUT Directional CountRecorders are available.

Typical CountRecorder Accuracy

The physics of a beam break people counter means that if two people walk through side-by-side, they will be counted as one. And if a group of people walk through at the same time, it is unlikely that all of them will be counted. ALL infrared beam-interrupt people counters work in the same way. On a single door entrance (typically 36″ wide), most people enter one at a time, so the counting accuracy is typical very high (93 to 95%). But on a double-door entrance – this typical accuracy can drop to 80 to 85%.

Why Collect Hourly Counts?

When we are consulting with our customers and helping them decide which people counter best meets their needs, we often here the question that goes something like, ‘why would I want to spend extra money in order to know how many people came in each and every hour?’.

Why Collect Hourly Counts?

When we are consulting with our customers and helping them decide which people counter best meets their needs, we often here the question that goes something like, ‘why would I want to spend extra money in order to know how many people came in each and every hour?’.

Basic CountRecorder

Originally designed in 1990 and updated many times over to use the latest hardware, improve reliability, and add features. The sensor is rated for industrial and outdoor applications, has adjustable sensitivity levels and easy to see go/no-go alignment lights. The display stores up to 12 months of hourly, daily, weekly and monthly counts –and can be set to automatically divide by two, or some other divisor. Users would walk to the counter display to view this data.

This ac-powered counter is priced at $449 plus shipping.

Wired Network CountRecorder

We take the Basic CountRecorder and add Ethernet connectivity. Run a standard Ethernet cable from the display to a nearby network port and use standard Web Browser software to view hourly, daily and monthly counts at your PC. The included software will let you view basic reports and export the counts to Microsoft Excel.

Priced at $569 plus shipping.

Wireless CountRecorder

This counter is not completely wireless because the sensor at the door does require ac-power. However, the count is wirelessly transmitted up to 100 feet from the sensor to our DataMaster Receiver.TheDataMaster connects to your PC network and you view half-hour, hourly, daily, weekly and monthly counts using standard Web Browser software. Counts can be exported as a .csv file to Microsoft Excel.

Priced at $799 plus shipping.
